Disenfranchised Grief

Have you ever had a loss in your life that no one else seemed to understand?
This type of grief is called "disenfranchised"
because it goes unrecognized.
Some examples are:
death of a pet;
loss of mobility or freedom due to illness;
death of an unrecognized partner or friend;
miscarriage or still birth;
a death stigmatized by society (drugs, HIV/AIDS, suicide);
loss of a marriage;
failing in school;
others say you just aren't grieving "right"
